Moldig were formed in 2005 in Torino, Italy, as a
duo (Giuditta Corgnati – vocals/bass and Enrico Bricco –guitars) who
was followed after some changes in line-up , by the drummer Daniele
Pavignano.
Their songs have a fresh approach to some familiar sounds of indie,
alternative rock, and post-punk .
This band is making their mark and capturing the ear’s of listeners
around the globe. The media and music industry has reacted to them
and here are some of their credits:
....“The treachery”, chosen as song of the week at
www.rock-Industries.com in June 2006, and inclusion in the German
Magazine no. 54 Compilation ( distributed all over Europe) together
with artists such as The Sounds and other major label artists.
Moldig was also elected Best New Comers 2007 for the newyorkish
Magazine Drop Dead Magazine.
.... “A game”, was a song featured on “Notes from the New
Underground no.7” Compilation (www.post.punk.com ), and “Mirror”,
was featured on the German “Smoke & Spotlight” Compilation no. 2.
....“Horizon”, was featured on " Stay in the Box ", a Matchbox
Recordings (Oxford, UK) showcase album released worldwide and
advertised worldwide on MTV2.
Their debut EP, self-released in 2005, was very positively reviewed
by the critics:
....Dave Chislett the famous journalist says: "Moldig are basically
a rock band, but a two piece, boy and girl …. It’s a dark, hypnotic
sound, but a simple and straightforward one that is pretty
absorbing. More proof, as if we still needed it, that great rock
music can come from pretty much anywhere” . ldig (2
....Will Sherman (A.R. Matchbox Recordings) adds: “Great
athmospheric rock, with a strong indie feeling”.
....Mick Mercer (The Mick 30)says : “…with hissyfit guitar and
dust-free surfaces, they exude class, from the simple
diamond-faceted vocal intrusions, as the memorable nature of their
music when the suddenly cut back to the guitar still patrolling
mindfully”.
....In the words of www.Spookyradio.com (CH) « …heavy and swift bass
, swift guitars, and the voice of Giuditta, grave and attractive.
From the beginning maturity comes out, and we realize we’re not in
front of a vulgar demo but we’re very far from there. The work done
is great and the “mixage” also is great…no..really….this band will
make people talk about them!”.
Their songs already received radio passages on various radio
stations: Matchbox Radio (UK), Radio Tonkuhle (DE), Ash Radio ,
Rock365, Wireonline (USA), RLP, RadioPNR, RadioBaldanza (It),
Thirteen13, Radio Reverb 97.2 (UK), InerciaRadio (Mexico). Also, DJ
s in France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Austria, USA and
Australia have played many of their songs (as documented by the
playlists published on the web). German Magazine no.54 said “The
treachery” is filling the dancefloors at German parties!”.
Moldig have been working hard on creating new songs and their first
album is now ready. Some of the songs feature Glenn Maryansky (on
drums) from the newyorkish band Blacklist.
The debut album (MOLDIG- Moldig), out on the 28th of November 2007,
is not going to go unnoticed. In less than a week, the media and
music industry has reacted to them and here are some of their
credits:
....Frank Deserto (www.post-punk.com) gives their debut album an
outstanding review: - nk Derto
"Despite having heard a mere handful of numbers by Italian post-punk
band Moldig, I knew straightaway that they were something special.
After several compilation appearances, including one on our very own
Notes From the New Underground series, Moldig have just released
their self-titled debut in November of this year, and what a
stunning debut it is!
Though the band now consists of three members, Moldig officially
began in 2005 as a collaborative effort between bassist/vocalist
Giuditta Corgnati and guitarist Enrico Bricco. Their sound is
direct- a steady, hard-hitting electric drums backing jagged
ancillary guitars, steady bass rhythms, and the occasional synth
line, topped off with the crème de la crème; female vocals that are
far more deep, driving, and soulful than they are meandering and
ethereal, immediately setting the band apart from the flock.
Meanwhile, the ten tracks that comprise Moldig’s debut record are
infectious and catchy, infused with healthy yet non-intrusive
dancefloor flair. Standout gems on the record include ‘Danger,’ with
cyclic guitar dustings laced over driving hooks, ‘A Game,’ a track
ripe for the post-punk gala, and tension laced ‘The Sense,’
featuring some of the most powerful guitar and vocal work the band
has to offer. Though the record was cut before drummer Daniele
Pavignano would complete the lineup, Blacklist drummer Glenn
Marayansky took to the skins from afar on selected tracks, the
remaining percussion on the record the result of precise
programming.
Oftentimes, brevity is not only the soul of wit, but also the key to
a fine record’s success. Though Moldig’s debut runs just shy of
forty minutes, there’s not a single ounce of fat to trim, and in
fact, the record leaves adoring ears eager for more. We only pray
the wait isn’t too long, and that Moldig’s refreshing and powerful
sound continues to win over hearts both near and far.

This band wasted no time to get their message out.Moldig are
promoting themselves online and offline and are performing in Italy,
in various metropolitan areas, and Europe (Netherlands, Czetch
Repubblic, UK tour in December 2007 !!!) to keep a live presence. A
short showcase in the US this summer is possible , but not official
yet. |
