That well-worn road from Lubbock to Austin
brought Sky Malone to the Texas music scene eleven years ago. From
birth, Sky was surrounded by musical inspiration. He began playing
the guitar at the young age of five. From modest beginnings on the
fringe of his father's Saturday night homegrown country bluegrass
jams, Sky has evolved his voice and melodic style into that of a
Texas troubadour - part songwriter, part performer, part missionary;
in short, another future Austin music legend.
In 2002, JetSpeed Records signed Sky Malone. At that time, Sky was a
proud member of the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan’s band Double
Trouble. Soon thereafter, they released their first album together
titled Texas Boy. "This album was my sincere gift to those who are
not fortunate to live in the Live Music Capital of the World." This
project began as a dream eleven years ago, which is only fitting,
since Sky brings together an original Austin dream team on his
eleven-song recording. Sky’s unique vocal styling and song writing
is backed by a few of the legendary talents that made Austin-style
music a genre of its own. Album number two is now on the rise for
Sky. Through the collaborative efforts of Sky Malone and JetSpeed
Records, this gospel flavored Americana album will be debuted before
the end of the year. Stay tuned…
Sky currently performs every Sunday afternoon at the Old Town Plaza
located in Wimberley Texas from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. He has also been a
frequent headliner for the Austin Wrangler's football team. Sky has
been the life of the Wranger's after party! His inspired music has
touched the hearts and souls of many and will continue to do so in
years to come. Althoug Sky is currently living his dream, his
ultimate goal is to someday follow in the footsteps of the great
Stevie Ray Vaughan by playing his Texas Blues at Carnigie Hall with
a full orchestra backing him. |
